Driver Trainer – TETA Registered – JHB
The Driver Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive training to drivers to ensure safe, efficient and compliant driving practices. This includes conducting initial and ongoing training sessions, assessing driving skills and ensuring that drivers meet the company’s safety and operational standards.
The role involves preparing training materials, providing hands-on instruction and evaluating the performance of drivers through practical assessments
Minimum requirements:
· Grade 12 or equivalent
· Code EC Driver’s Licence with valid PrDP
· Proven experience as a driving instructor
· Clear criminal and driving record
· TETA Registered Assessor
· Minimum 5 years’ experience as a code EC driver
· Ability to work during evenings and on weekends, as required
· Experienced in the following unit standards : Operating vehicle combination, operating rigid light and heavy vehicles, dangerous goods, warehouse lifting equipment, firefighting
· Knowledge and understanding of the Road Traffic Act and relevant legislation
· Knowledge of onboard monitoring systems and vehicle tracking systems
· Knowledge of computerized systems, applications and output (MS Office, MS Outlook)
Job purpose:
· Assess new and existing drivers.
· Conduct training sessions (soft skills and lifting equipment) according to the drawn schedules.
· Ensure that training schedules, both soft skills and lifting equipment are communicated to the managers and are adhered to.
· Conduct coaching sessions with drivers to improve competency.
· Conduct driver on route assessments.
· Ensure that the driver’s license and PrDP are up to date and valid.
· Ensure that the attendance registers are filled and filed correctly
· Keep the driver files up to date on learner management system.
· Provide feedback to all stakeholders regarding driver assessments conducted.
· Capture and update data on internal systems.
· Facilitate training interventions linked to TETA Scope.
· Assess learners fairly, consistently and accurately according to TETA requirements.
· Use a language that is understandable and provide support where needed.
· Conduct site audit and route inspection to ensure vehicles are up to standard and assist with vehicle dispatching.
· Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required.
· Maintain professional conduct.
· Ensure the dress code is in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures.
· Maintain housekeeping standards on a daily basis.
· Ensure standards of Health and Safety are maintained.
